Hail and storm damage

Central Texas gets most of its hail between March and June. After a storm we inspect your roof for free, document every hit and meet your adjuster on the roof.

What we check

Hail hits
Bruised mat, granules knocked off, cracked tabs. We circle each hit in chalk and photograph a 10 by 10 foot test square on every slope.
Wind damage
Creased, lifted or missing shingles, usually on the ridges and the windward edges.
Metal and vents
Dents on vents, gutters, downspouts and AC fins. Adjusters look at these first.
Inside
Stains on ceilings and wet insulation in the attic, the part most people never check.

How a claim works with us

Your claim is between you and your insurer. Our job is to show them exactly what the storm did.

  1. Free inspection and photo report

Ray walks every slope and sends you a report with dated photos the same day.

  2. You file the claim

You call your insurer with the report. The claim is between you and them.

  3. We meet your adjuster

We go up on the roof with the adjuster and point out every hit we documented.

  4. Your insurer decides

Your insurer approves a scope and settles with you. We build from that scope.

  5. You pay your deductible

It's on the contract, as Texas law requires. We never offer to cover it.

Texas law, in plain words

  • You, the policyholder, pay your deductible.
  • It's illegal in Texas for a contractor to offer to waive, rebate or absorb your deductible.
  • A contract of $1,000 or more paid with insurance money has to include a notice that you're responsible for the deductible.
  • A roofing contractor can't act as a public adjuster or negotiate your claim for you.

Thinking about Class 4?

  • Shingles rated Class 4 under UL 2218 take the hardest hail in the lab test.
  • Many Texas insurers discount premiums for a Class 4 roof. The amount is set by each insurer.
  • After the install we fill out Texas Department of Insurance form PC068 (or your insurer's own form) and give you a copy to send in.
  • Many Texas policies now exclude cosmetic hail damage, especially on metal. Ask your agent before you choose.

Class 4 shingles: $560 to $690 per square, about $2,400 to $3,000 more than standard shingles on a 30-square roof.
